NASA Administrator, Michael Griffin, is backing away from comments he made last week in a National Public Radio interview. At the time Griffin stated that, " ...a trend of global warming exists, I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with.” Today the White House appointed Griffin is apologizing to NASA staff saying that, All I can really do is apologize to all you guys ... I feel badly that I caused this amount of controversy over something like this." |

The big story today, which we wrote about last night was some outrageous statements made by White House appointed NASA administrator, Michael Griffin. Today, Jim Hansen, a top NASA scientist is coming back at Griffin hard in an exclusive interview with ABC News. Hansen states: It's an incredibly arrogant and ignorant statement," Hansen told ABC News. "It indicates a complete ignorance of understanding the implications of climate change." |

In the same week that NASA scientists are reporting that we are at a dangerous and critical global warming tipping point, their top administrator will take to the airwaves tomorrow morning with a very different, if not diametrically opposite message. NASA finds "vast regions" of Antarctic melting15 May 07
NASA released a new report today revealing clear evidence of extensive snow melt in 2005 due to warmer than normal temperatures. Using their new QuikScat satellite, NASA found "the most significant melt observed using satellites during the past three decades." According to Conrad Steffen at the University of Colorado: "Antarctica has shown little to no warming in the recent past with the exception of the Antarctic Peninsula, but now large regions are showing the first signs of the impacts of warming.." |
