Clean air or clean water? Climate change enters Northwest dam debate

The long-standing controversy over dam removal in Washington, Oregon and California has heightened with scientific recognition of man made carbon emissions in global warming. Power companies and others who favor keeping the dams tout them as a crucial source of so-called clean energy, while opponents say the dams are anything but clean because they foul water and kill fish to generate electricity.

Governator says global-warming fight must become “hip and sexy” to succeed

Rather than behaving like “prohibitionists at a fraternity party," California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said its time to stop laying guilt trips about carbon emissions and focus instead on the benefits of clean air and a healthy planet.

Flattery and Fallacies

A DeSmog detractor has created two new webpages which are the most flattering and fallacious of anything I've seen in ages.

First, our intrepid critic has created a list of "Climate Fascists" in which he included my name with the likes of Al Gore, Arnie Schwarzenegger, Jim Hansen, James Lovelock, Michael Mann, Nicholas Stern and Tim Flannery. (I'm so proud, I have taken a screenshot to show my kids.)
