Notorious skeptic Bjorn Lomborg recently testified in Congress at the request of Sen. James  ("Global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American People") Inhofe.  Predictably, Lomborg called on the APAC 6 to ignore Kyoto because it's too expensive -- without any recognition of all the wealth and jobs a global transition to clean energy would create.  And nowhere does he justify his outrageous assertion that addressing climate change will cost $5 to $8 trillion. The Guardian's Science Podcast this week features interviews with Bjorn Lomborg, the self proclaimed "Skeptical Environmentalist" and Tony Juniper of the Friends of the Earth environmental society.

Lomborg makes his same old argument against action on climate change, that the world's economic resources are finite and that we should dedicate them to his top priorities - a list that misses climate change.

To quote Lomborg, "We're  focussed very much on climate change, and we are not focussed very much on all the other issues in the world and quite frankly we don't have infinite resources." Friend of the Earther, Tony Juniper retorts, "Lomborg's logic breaks down somewhat in trying to trade these things off against each other. I don't think the world works like that."

As per the comments on the weekend by Teresa Heinz Kerry, Jim Inhofe has been perverting the public conversation on climate change by inviting cranky deniers to testify at his committee while preventing the Democrats from inviting anyone at all. Inhofe's latest guest is "Skeptical Environmentalist" Bjorn Lomborg - a man whose record of scientific research in this field is worse than Tim Ball's.
